Queenie: And me, did you miss me, Edmund?
Edmund: Madam, life without you was like...a broken pencil.
Queenie: Explain...?
Edmund: Pointless.
Put out some Pot-plants and birds will come
{10September2008} It has been raining...heavily!
Now it is stopped. The potted plants on the balcony have had a good watering, and the leaves look clean and fresh. But wait! There is movement out there...two or three small birds are investigating this tiny 9th floor garden.

I am beginning to know a little about common Thai native birds...quickly I identify these as Scaly-breasted Munia...small finch-like birds just a little smaller than Eurasian Sparrows, and distinguished by a broad beak and a breast-feather pattern resembling lizard scales.
I fit my biggest lens to the camera...100-400mm F4-5.6 L IS...and slowly approach the wet window. I get off several shots...most are spoiled by the refractive influence of the water droplets on the glass, but several are of acceptable quality. It seems the male is aware of something moving on the other side of the glass, but it doesn't act too frightened by what it sees.
For a couple of minutes they hop about among the shrubs then, obviously deciding there is nothing worth eating, make off to places unknown.
That was a pleasant interlude.
